About HRC in San Diego

Welcome to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Emerging Community in San Diego! HRC is America’s largest gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) civil rights organization working to achieve equality and improve the lives of GLBT people. We are a dedicated and diverse group of volunteers who strive to increase HRC’s presence and make a positive difference in the lives of our GLBT community in San Diego, in California, and in the federal government, through meaningful and fun community events. Whether you are a GLBT individual, friend or family member, we hope you will join us in making GLBT equality a reality.

HRC in San Diego covers about 1.2 million people residing in the San Diego and Imperial Counties, 16 military facilities housing the United States Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, and world-renowned research institutions like the University of California, San Diego, and the University of San Diego. In addition, San Diego has one of the largest GLBT populations in the country, surpassing Los Angeles according to 2000 U.S. Census data, with vibrant communities in Hillcrest, North Park, and University Heights areas.
