We here with the Human Rights Campaign in San Diego are deeply touched by our mayor, Jerry Sanders, who unexpectedly changed his position to veto our City Council’s resolution to have San Diego sign on to an amicus brief supporting same-sex marriage to the California Supreme Court. In an incredibly touching and emotional press conference, Sanders explained that he has personally struggled with this issue and in the end decided that passing it was what felt best in his heart.
