HRC-SD participated in National Protest on Prop 8 in San Diego on November 15, 2008. Police estimated a crowd of 20,000 - 25,000 people marched from Balboa Park to the City Administration Building for a Rally which included speeches Stampp Corbin (HRC-SD Federal Club Co-Chair), Kevin Keenan, executive director of the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties; Todd Gloria, councilman-elect from San Diego's 3rd district and representatives of Equality California. Making the right call: Vote No on CA Proposition 8

A dozen HRC San Diego Steering Committee members joined more than 100 other volunteers in San Diego last week to call voters and urge them to vote no on California Proposition 8, which would ban marriages between gay and lesbian couples. After the phone bank volunteers marched down University Avenue, lined both sides of the street and lit candles chanting, “No on 8! No on 8!”

The message: The hundreds of volunteers who make up the No on Prop 8 campaign field team have shared their light with the rest of the country, but the work is far from done ... All of our candles must continue to burn bright until Election Day!
