August HRC Connect at Fiesta Cantina

HRC – San Diego held its monthly Connect event at Fiesta Cantina in Hillcrest on Monday August 10th. With over 80 people attending and 20 new HRC members joining or renewing their memberships, it was HRC – San Diego’s most successful monthly Connect since they began in 2008.

Fiesta Cantina offered drink specials and free appetizers as attendees met and socialized with each other and San Diego Steering Committee members to get updates on the latest action HRC is taking including passing an inclusive federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and repealing the Defense of Marriage Act and Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

The event organizer Drew Auker said “the number one thing people can do to support the mission of equality is to stay informed and know what’s going on. The number two thing they can do is become a member of HRC. Our monthly Connect events are designed to achieve both.”
